The Rundown 4/7

Spencer and Jack talk through a Saturday of "fun"

A Tradition Unlike Any Other.

Spencer Legred

I love the Masters, oh so very much. The weird thing is that I really don't go for golf on TV all that much any other time of year. But for the FIRST major of the year. For the first peak of Spring when there are still inches of snow on the ground and inches in the forecast, it's just the perfect escape.

The stunning visuals, the peaceful chirping birds, and the soothing sounds of Jim Nantz alone are enough to change the channel to CBS today. AND you throw in the compelling storylines like the return of Tiger, the weirdness of Sergio, the inevitable playoff between Rory and Jordan, it's appointment viewing.

So put your feet up, relax, and allow yourself to spend the weekend at Augusta.

The Return of a Legend.

Jack Linnehan

Tiger Woods has made the cut at The Masters. Normally that would be a guarantee, an expectation. But with his numerous surgeries and a long hiatus, this is a fantastic sight to see. He may not be playing like he did in his past two events (two top 5 finishes), and he’s not going to win, but Tiger is back.

With Tiger’s absence, many young stars blossomed and excelled in his place. There was hope that the sport could continue to succeed without its brightest star in years. Now, the likes of Spieth, Thomas, McIlroy, Fowler, Day, and Johnson (among others) remain the faces of the PGA. But the man who came before them all is back in the mix.

Now, we really have the best of both worlds for the sport of golf. The youth is pushing the game forward, but a relic of the past is back, bringing many fans back with him. Tiger has always been good for golf, but he’s at his best position now: just another big name competing at the same level as everyone else.
